Transgaming has released a new portability engine for Intel Macs. This technology will allow PC games to be run on Intel Macs without the need for virtualization, Boot Camp, or traditional porting. Cider, as the technology is known, uses an optimized set of Win32 APIs. Very good news for Apple fans as the massive world of PC games will become available to run quickly and easily. I do wonder about speed, however. How much, if any, is the performance hit? Also, does this mean the death of Mac native games? Does it matter? Transgaming also makes a similar product for Linux.
